Definition of Legal Terms: Civil Rights

The term Civil Rights means...
certain rights established by the Constitution of the United States of America that give all citizen protection from actions taken by the government or other persons against these rights. Examples: A citizen cannot be fired from employment because of race, age, or religion; citizens have a right to privacy within their own home from illegal or unreasonable searchers.
